EYF Launch on 1/6.

THE EYF LAUNCH!!
Thank God for the fine weather that enabled us to have fun together through the various activities.
It started off on a different note!! Different teams met at different location - Aljunied, Bugis, Tiong Bahru, City Hall etc without knowing the final destination. Each team started off the game by reading the passage given, identifying the passage from the gospel and knowing Jesus - His characteristics of humility, compassionate, holiness, power, wisdom and more in that particular situation. Of course, we were not let off that easily. As a team, we had to find a location that reflects that very attribute identified. For example, one of the teams went to Redhill for the humility attribute because it was a humbling act to walk around in Redhill in the hot and humid weather.(*smoke in the air*) compared to a shopping mall. Adding on, Redhill is where most of the elderly are (*a fire almost started*). For another team, they went to SMU to represent the wisdom characteristics. For compassionate, some of the teams reflected it through their actions by providing directions to strangers, helping the elderly etc... While for purity, another team went to st Andrew cathedral because of the color white.
Quizzes were also part of the game as we move from destination to destination. We had to complete it before the next destination. Any mistake or failure to complete it on time caused one member to 'die'. And imagine playing the minesweeper game on paper, 5-in-1 sukudo which were real killers to the brain cells and consequently the whole being of a member. We were allowed to redeem the person by doing some tasks together which turned out to be challenging, demoralizing, daring and/or tiring.
Along the way, it was found out in order to get to the final destination where the game master was hiding, the different teams have to come together to piece their respective parts of the map and instruction together. However, one team refused to cooperate.... and the rest is for you to find out more what happened to them....
Out from it all, we learnt 3 lessons. Firstly, our presence in getting the first hand experience. Even as I go about in the recollecting of the events for the day on this blog, nothing beats being there on the scene to get the first-hand experience and being involved in the whole game process for what can be written is just the summary. Behind those happenings, there were even finer details of how God speaks to us, works within us and also the interaction with His people while on the go.
Secondly, the importance of one another on the journey to get to the final destination through the combining of the different parts of the map together. Likewise, on this spiritual journey, we need one another too!
Last but not least, do we take the step to go beyond our comfort zone as seen through forfeit time or as changes occur along the way? Are prepared to still go the mile even when changes arise?
